OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD'S HISTORY
In 1910, Marcel Issartier created the Sarcignan aerodrome to fly his airplane. He used the field behind our school!
In 2013, the same field he used is to become a pedagogical farm.
In 1965, our residence was built. There were shops (pharmacy, grocery, ...) and old cars.
In 2013, the street has evolved: there are road signs, markings, pavements... The shops are still there but the cars have changed and trees have grown.
CHILDREN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
The cm1 cm2 class worked on the neighourhood's current architecture.
The went just near the school to observe and study the different buildings.

They did perspective drawings to represent the buildings around the school.
They did surveys and polls on our pupils house types and they conclude the majority of them live in block apartments.
They made posters to present the results to the partners.

The CE2 / CM1 students learnt how to find their way in the school yard using a compass and drew compass roses on the ground. Then they read excerpts of the "Book of Marvels" by Marco Polo.
Mr Magnant from the ARHO association (Association of Ornon Historic Researches ) came to our school to prepare a visit to Saint Martin church in Villenave d'Ornon where there are current archaeologic searches.
The CE1/CE2 and CE2/CM1 students had the opportunity to watch the archeologists excavating the future car-park site. They found remainings from an old medieval cemetery.
Then the students visited the church and had a look at the roman/gothic architecture of the building. A very rich outdoor learning visit!!!

Mr Magnant gave us old pictures of our neighbourhood: Our students used these ancient photographs, plans of our neighbourhood, their knowledge of the places where they live and their sense of orienteering to find the exact place where these photographs had been taken from.
