Our students counted one by one and in doubles on the circles of the caterpillar in our school garden. They learned showing and telling the time on the clock. They had a great time.

Our year 6 and year 1 classes worked on the maths trails. Year 6 used a dragon theme where they had to follow coordinates and work out a maths problem to take them to the next clue. They had great fun working cooperatively in teams solving the clues!!!

The bandits and the treasure |
It´s a sack with the numbers from 1 up to 20. The children placed them in the right order.
They walked on them forwards and backwards while counting. In the end we played a game „The bandits and the treasure“ Where a treasure was placed on the number 10. By throwing the dice it came closer to the „Minus Bandits cave“- number 1 or the „Plus bandits cave“ the 20. In this game the Plus Bandit won. |
SWEDEN: The outdoor lesson was in second grade and about the geometric shapes. The lesson took place in a little park nearby the school. We started repeating the name of the geometric shapes; triangle, circle and square and how to recognize them. We also looked around in the park to see if we could find any geometric shapes there. The pupils worked in pairs, building the geometric shapes with material they could find in the park. When they were busy building their shapes, one of the teachers hid triangles, circles and squares around the park. And then it was time to find them. The shapes had different values: Square = 50, Triangle= 5, Circle= 20. The last task was to figure out your score. The lesson gives the pupils a possibility to practice different abilities. They practice the geometric shapes with more than one sense, develop a spatial awareness and the ability of mental arthmetic. As a bonus they also get the chance to cooperate and by that learn from each other.
